Dr. Wechsler is the Medical Director of the Idaho Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. He is Board Certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology, and completed a two-year Epilepsy Fellowship at Stanford University.
The Idaho Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is located on the St. Luke's Regional Medical Center campus in Boise, Idaho. The center provides a controlled environment for the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy. The center's goal is to help people manage their seizures and enhance their quality of life. Even the best medical management fails to achieve seizure control in up to a third of people with epilepsy. In these cases, care can often be improved through consultation with an epilepsy specialist and/or evaluation in an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit provides a controlled, inpatient environment for the diagnosis and treatment of refractory epilepsy. Information collected during an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit evaluation helps doctors to classify the type of epilepsy, assists in identifying conditions that resemble epilepsy, and allows for pharmacological and intensive care unit monitoring of epilepsy patients. Some intractable epilepsy patients may benefit greatly from epilepsy surgery. The Epilepsy Monitoring Unit also allows for seizure localization during pre-surgical evaluations.
